Tournament Format:
To maximize participant engagement, The 2024 English Open is implementing a round-robin stage followed by a single-elimination phase, ensuring each participant competes in at least four matches. The tournament wants:
Fairness: Competition organized into distinct categories based on age (18+, 35+, 45+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, and 75+) and skill level (3.0-, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, and OPEN 5.0+), to ensure a level playing field.
Enjoyment: The aim is to create a competitive yet enjoyable environment where fun is the goal.
Transparency: We are committed to clear communication regarding the rules and providing easy access to ongoing results and standings, ensuring a transparent process throughout.

Accommodation & Travel
There are various accommodation options available to suit different budgets. Telford International Centre has three hotels on campus, for which we have secured rooms at a fixed preferential rate.
If you would like to book one of the 3 hotels listed below, the reservations team look after all 3 hotels and are ready to take your booking. A confirmation number will be provided.

Travel Information
Location Accessibility: The Telford International Centre, centrally located in the UK, is easily accessible for attendees.
By Car: Use Gate A at the building's entrance for direct access. Navigation options include the postcode TF3 4JH or the What Three Words directions: Gentle, Motivates, Party.
By Train: Telford Central Station is less than a mile away, about a 15-minute walk. Alternatively, a regular bus service connects the station to the center.
By Plane: Located under an hour's drive from Birmingham International Airport, with rail connections from Birmingham International Station directly linked to the airport. Telford is also reachable from London Heathrow and Manchester Airports.
Volunteer Information
2023 English OPEN: As with all Pickleball England events, the tournament relies on volunteer support. Assistance is invaluable during the event setup from Wednesday evening through Sunday. If you can help, even for a few hours, please get in touch. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated!
Venue & Amenities
Telford International Centre: The venue boasts ample space, including seating and 40 planned pickleball courts, along with a variety of food and drink options and sufficient restroom facilities. Please note there are no specific changing rooms or showers available, so you may need to return to your hotel to freshen up before evening activities.

Tournament Terms & Conditions
By registering, you agree to the following:
Registration Period: Opens at 11am on Saturday, 10th February, and closes at 11:59pm BST on Saturday, 6th July.
Cancellation & Refund Policy: Requests for cancellations and refunds must be made by 11:59pm BST on 6th July. Registration fees are non-refundable; however, event fees will be refunded if the cancellation is made before registration closes.
Director's Discretion: The tournament director reserves the right to combine categories if necessary and reassign players as deemed fit, with all decisions being final.
Results Reporting: Tournament results will be shared with DUPR and Pickleball Global. Participants with a DUPR ID are asked to include it in their registration.
Health & Safety: Participants must comply with any Covid-19 related requirements.
Code of Conduct: All participants are expected to adhere to the pickleballEngland code of conduct and uphold its values.
